In your first session, your clinician will ask you questions about what brings you to therapy, including any relevant recent life events, symptoms you may be experiencing, and treatment goals that you would like to work toward. You may also be asked to complete questionnaires to evaluate the severity of any symptoms you may be experiencing. These assessments will allow your clinician to better understand your reasons for seeking treatment, provide you with information about any potential diagnoses, and give you recommendations about available treatment options.

After the initial assessment (typically 1-3 sessions), your clinician will work with you to identify specific goals you will work on together throughout the course of treatment. These goals will guide the particular interventions and practices that your clinician will recommend. Depending on your particular symptoms, treatment goals, and the recommended interventions you will be practicing with your clinician, the number of recommended sessions will vary. For most clients, this ranges between 10 and 40 sessions.

We are considered out-of-network and are not participating providers with any insurance companies. However, most health plans will reimburse a portion of your treatment costs, and thus many of our clients elect to use their out-of-network benefits.

If you are interested in requesting reimbursement from your insurance company, you can verify your coverage by calling the member services number on your insurance card and asking about your plan’s out-of-network mental health benefits. We will provide you with a monthly receipt called a “superbill” that can be submitted to your insurance company, who will then reimburse you the percentage specified by your plan benefits.

Please note, all clients are required to pay the full cost of each session at the time of the appointment and there is never any guarantee of reimbursement from us on behalf of your insurance company. Many of our clients also use HSA, FSA, or credit cards to pay for our services.

Our fees range from $180 to $300 per session, depending on the clinician you work with, their experience level, and expertise. Under federal law, health care providers need to give patients who don’t have certain types of health care coverage or who are not using certain types of health care coverage an estimate of their bill for health care items and services before those items or services are provided.

  • You have the right to receive a Good Faith Estimate for the total expected cost of any health care items or services upon request or when scheduling such items or services. This includes related costs like medical tests, prescription drugs, equipment, and hospital fees.
  • If you schedule a health care item or service at least 3 business days in advance, make sure your health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 1 business day after scheduling. If you schedule a health care item or service at least 10 business days in advance, make sure your health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after scheduling. You can also ask any health care provider or facility for a Good Faith Estimate before you schedule an item or service. If you do, make sure the health care provider or facility gives you a Good Faith Estimate in writing within 3 business days after you ask.
  • If you receive a bill that is at least $400 more for any provider or facility than your Good Faith Estimate from that provider or facility, you can dispute the bill.

Yes, with some very specific exceptions. Your appointments with your clinician will become part of a clinical record, which is stored electronically. This record is stored on encrypted servers and is only accessible to your clinician or clinical team via a secure, password-protected logon. Your clinician will always keep everything you say completely confidential, with the following exceptions:

  • you direct your clinician or the practice to share your information with someone else and you sign a “Release of Information” form;
  • your clinician determines that you are a danger to yourself or to others;
  • you report information about the abuse of a child, an elderly person, or a disabled individual who may require protection;
  • your clinician or the practice is ordered by a judge to disclose information.

We work with adolescents and adults across the lifespan who are experiencing difficulty with mood disorders, anxiety symptoms, or emotion dysregulation. Specific issues may include depression (and associated suicidal thoughts/behaviors), social anxiety, phobias, panic attacks, obsessive-compulsive disorder, trauma experiences, emotion dysregulation, self-harm, general discontent, isolation and loneliness, relationship problems, stress, and life transitions.

We currently offer in-person therapy sessions at our office in Fairfield, CT, as well as telehealth therapy sessions via secure, HIPAA-compatible video conferencing. We are licensed to treat clients who are located in Connecticut and New York, as well as any PSYPACT Participating State in the US.

After your initial assessment, your clinician will make recommendations on treatment length and frequency of sessions. For most clients, treatment begins with weekly appointments to gain an understanding and regular practice of the recommended skills. Over time, you and your clinician will discuss recommendations for decreasing frequency of sessions depending on your treatment progress and preference.
